Nina Simone, was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned various styles including classical, folk, gospel, blues, jazz, R&B, and pop. What’s not mentioned and for Heston is most appealing is the soul in her Jazz. He is inspired by the raw honesty of her music and transparency in her lyrics. Heston shares, “there’s a troubled soul for sure, great music can be painful… I see her.”
